Travel is one of the most powerful forms of education. Like the root of the word ‘education’ itself, ‘to be led forth’, travel awakens the mind by cultivating a deep sense of wonder and by shaping ideas into lived experiences.

Our guides- Leo and Anna!! Their knowledge, encouragement, and engagement created space for questions, adventure, and FUN! I can’t imagine roaming Italy without them- they are a blessing!!

Living the Classics

Alithea Traveler

I loved seeing all of the sites and learning about the history of those places. It was beautiful to see Italy, especially when connecting it to all of the Classic Literature that I have read throughout high school. Every church was spectacular and gorgeously decorated, that it was hard not to audibly say words like “WOW!” and “Ooo”. Traveling with Alithea was a great experience!

I loved all of the thoughtful conversation. Our guides (Anna and Leo) were present and open to connecting with our students, sponsors, and each experience. It created a very rich and comfortable experience the entire trip. Our students were engaged and present because of the thoughtful and intentional our guides related. One of my favorite days was our day together at Paestum and the beach. Anna and Leo created an indelible experience with both an environment of contemplation (Paestum) and of rest (the beach).

The workshops and talks with artisans, craftsmen, and locals. It was the highlight of the trip. Though tours of grand cathedrals and castles was great, being able to meet those who help weave the grand tapestry of Spanish architectural history was indispensable.

Absolutely incredible. Life long memories were made, and I would love to do another trip.

This trip definitely exceeded my expectations. I was not anticipating to see so much and learn so much. Italy has such a rich history and Alithea did a wonderful job in taking us back in time to learn the Roman times while being in the present time. The tour guides were highly educated on the topics they were explaining to us and I so enjoyed hearing the history while seeing the Roman forum, the churches, the Montessori, pampi, and so much more. Jessie and Giada were extremely kind and accommodating. Their positive attitude was highly contagious, especially when things did not go as planned. I left a part of my heart in Rome and Florence and I look forward to visiting again. Thank you Alithea for such a rich and wonderful trip.

Alithea planned a wonderful trip that covered everything expected and provided suggestions for self exploration to get more out of the time we had.  A great adventure!  Well done!

Alithea certainly achieved its desire to deliver a travel experience filled with beauty, delight, and adventure. For our junior and senior students, it brought life to everything they have learned. Living out the Classics during our Italy trip—Rome, Florence, and Pompei—allowed us to truly experience its rich history, culture, and people. The beauty of the buildings, structures, and art was enchanting, and the knowledge and enthusiasm from Jesse, Giada, and our guides reflected their passion to educate. The attention to detail, daily itineraries, family-style dinners, spontaneous gelato trips, train rides, and walking together created wonderful fellowship. Thank you, Alithea, for a trip of a lifetime. Andiamo!

My two favorite moments were watching sunset from the top of Brunelleschi’s dome, and our time at Castello DI Bossi. My favorite activities were watching the glass blowing at the glass cathedral, and the incredible tour we got at the Palazzo Colona

Best fun was spending the day with Marillia's family to get a real authentic Greek experience. My personal favorite was going to St. Andreas in Patras and seeing the relics of the apostle Andrew.

My favorite moment was spending the day with Marilia's family. As much as I love history and the building arts (and all the sites we saw left a huge impact on me) that day with her family we got the most greek experience possible, and that was very special.

It's not merely a trip to historic site of the classical world; it's a calling to an embodied experience.

Educational travel represents a return to the original places and ideas that define Western Civilization.

Like discovering a great text in the original language or listening to a symphony performed live, a classical approach to travel invites students to experience the power of place as an immersive experience of truth, beauty, and goodness.
